How long?

6.00 – 20.00 or 14 hours.

What is that?

Lunch break: Fast food / Local restaurants / Self prepared meals.

Dove Lake Circuit (Option 1): This 6km track is one of Tasmania’s premier walks. It will take you right around Dove Lake and beneath the towering spires of Cradle Mountain. The track is board walked for much of the way.

Marions Lookout (Option 2): This is a moderate grade walk with some steep sections, so a reasonable degree of fitness is desirable. On a clear day, this walk offers spectacular views of Cradle Mountain and Dove Lake.

Enchanted Walk: The walk will take you through buttongrass moorland before entering cool temperate rainforest along the edges of Pencil Pine Creek. Along the track are three interpretive tunnels that kids and kids at heart will find fun to crawl through.

Deloraine is a delightful riverside village that hosts the nation's largest annual craft fair and has a historic streetscape. The bank of Meander River is very well-known for its cherry blossom trees, especially in the peak season of early Spring.

Highland Lakes Road / Central Plateau: Highland Lakes Road gets nowhere near the same amount of usage as Tasmania's three other North to South main roads, so chances are you won't see much other traffic. This makes it easy to stop and taking in the scenery - and there is plenty to stop and take in - without having to worry about that driver who is hard on your tail and wants to go faster than you do. Be aware that snow is common in winter.

What to bring?

  • The Tasmanian weather may be unpredictable with strong wind all year round.

  • Sunglasses and jumpers are optional.

  • Hiking gears are highly recommended, especially in its signature season – winter.
